Flâneur was originally defined as "loafing" about a city - a "man of leisure" sort of activity. But it now has a much more complex connotation. For me, it is almost a naturalist's way of experiencing an urban environment. Walking is essential, of course. And watching. Honoré de Balzac described flâneur as "the gastronomy of the eye." I use it in photography as a form of street photography and in writing for essays and poetry. These images span the globe. Can you guess where they were taken?
